　　戰地金門冬季的海濱，寒風凜冽。夜，已黑漆得伸手不見掌，戰士們戍守前哨，愈加提高驚愓，嚴防敵人蠢動侵犯。
　　冤家果真路窄，陳文基、許僑僑這對寶可又同時輪值，還共接一組複哨。進到哨所，剛清點完彈藥，一陣旋風飛沙走石從射口襲擊進來，他倆紛忙戴上風鏡，想要全面監視海域的確是更感困難。
　　﹁文基，今晚水鬼如摸上來，我們對他真沒轍啦！﹂
　　陳文基沒吭聲，自顧自地在擦拭槍上灰塵。
　　﹁唷！唷！看你真是搭著牌樓賣牛肉─好大架子啊！﹂許僑僑可按耐不住性子。
　　﹁我看你呀！也好比是洋人看平戲─莫明其妙。﹂
　　﹁人家跟你談正經事，為啥這般大饅頭堵嘴─不吭不響？﹂
　　﹁你甭門縫看人─把人看扁啦！水鬼能撗衝直闖上來？﹂許僑僑頗不以為然：﹁難道陣前一道道阻絕障礙是擺樣的？我們槍子兒是吃素的不成？﹂
　　﹁你可別忘了司令官的命令，槍一響便要繳出戰果囉！﹂
　　﹁我知道，祇要水鬼敢來，我們可不是掛著唬人的門神。﹂
　　﹁是呀！把他們一個個打得死蹺蹺。﹂陳文基可逮到機會替許取諢號。
　　﹁那可不是，把他們一個個當瘟雞來剁宰。﹂許僑僑也不是吃素的善貓。
　　夜更深了，浪花一波波地向陣地撲來，活像水鬼正騎著海濤過來似的。
　　﹁文基，你看哪是不是水鬼？﹂許僑僑見水際忽隱忽現的影兒，不由己的有些毛骨悚然。
　　﹁呃！是有些像水鬼。﹂
　　﹁要不要開槍？﹂
　　﹁甭急，等他們上到海灘，再幹掉也不遲呀！﹂
　　陳、許哼哈二將，眼睛睖瞪得銅鑼般監視前方，誰也不敢再吭聲了。
　　他倆端著槍癡癡地等、靜靜地候，像等女友那般的心急，久未盼到倩影芳蹤蒞臨。假若水鬼真敢登岸，他倆頗有信心，準可把他們一個個殲滅在海灘上。
　　田班長領著李子廉，順著壕溝進來查哨，見他倆神經兮兮就射擊位置，攏身

輕拍陳文基肩膀問：
　　﹁發現了什麼？﹂
　　﹁水鬼！﹂
　　﹁發現多久？﹂
　　﹁剛出現。﹂
　　﹁你倆掩護好，李子廉隨我到前面去探個究竟。﹂
　　田班長動作老練，按照預定通路，匍匐到了海邊。陳、許嚴陣以待，準備支援班長戰鬥。項排長獲悉狀況，除向上級報告外，並命令全排加強戒備，親自趕到前哨察看：﹁文基、怎麼啦？﹂
　　﹁可能是水鬼！﹂排長來到第一線，陳、許二人好似吃了定心丸。
　　海上目標愈來愈近了，田班長打回請求支援的信號。排長毅然果決下令：﹁發射照明彈！﹂
　　﹁砰！﹂的一聲，照明彈像火箭砲似的衝出，在高空亮開了。
　　遠遠看到田班長、李子廉利用地形就射擊位置。田班長還煞有其事大聲喊話：
　　﹁各位鄉親同志們，你們已在我們火網籠罩下，逃不了啦！放下武器就是同志，趕快放下武器起義來歸吧！﹂
　　水鬼才不聽這套，不一會，目標全消失海面了，並向田班長擲過來一枚手榴彈﹁轟﹂的一聲爆炸了。
　　﹁砰！砰！砰！﹂田班長、李子廉隨即朝海際還擊。
　　﹁噠噠噠！噠噠噠……﹂機槍彈道在海面上構成兩道通紅的火網，不久海上目標一個個都漂浮上來失去了抵抗力。
　　照明彈接二連三的射向天空，排據點已成了一座不夜城堡。田班長領著李子廉清掃戰場，可押了一名水鬼過來。　　
　　水鬼塗了渾身滿臉迷彩，瘦削身子，不知是凍得還是驚悸過度簌簌顫抖，下牙擊敲著上牙﹁喀喀﹂發響向排長求饒：﹁報告長……長官，請放……放我走吧！﹂
　　﹁哪有這好的事兒？﹂排長圓瞪著雙眼：﹁要知道會如此，你們就不該像沒腦袋的蒼蠅─瞎撞呀！﹂
　　﹁不來怎……怎行？﹂水鬼拭了把淚水：﹁我是被……被他們命……令過來摸……摸哨的呀！﹂
　　﹁能摸到我們哨？﹂排長啐了唾液：﹁真他娘的，想在老虎口裏拔牙─找死！﹂
　　﹁長官，我……我才不敢！﹂水鬼抱拳作揖：﹁是他們說……說這邊沒……沒正規軍．祇是些自……自衛隊在……在防守著。﹂
　　﹁田班長。﹂項排長吩咐：﹁快把他送到連部去。﹂
　　﹁是！﹂田班長靠腿敬禮端槍。
　　想不到水鬼卻跪地求饒：﹁長官，請不……不要把我後……後送呀！否則我

便會……會死蹺蹺！﹂
　　﹁死蹺蹺？﹂陳文基聽起來挺新鮮，轉眼向許僑僑扮鬼臉：﹁你們也知道死蹺蹺？﹂
　　﹁真的會死……死蹺蹺呀！﹂
　　﹁哪為什麼？﹂排長狐疑。
　　﹁出發前，幹部便跟……跟我們每……每人注射了針藥……液，如不……不按時回……回去，沒有解藥，準死……死蹺蹺。﹂
　　﹁經你這麼一說，更該趕快後送。﹂
　　﹁不，不行呀！﹂水鬼磕頭作揖：﹁求長官放……放我走，不然我……我真會死蹺蹺的。﹂
　　﹁不會的，你儘管放心。﹂排長扶攙起水鬼：﹁國軍醫療設備技術優異，什麼病痛都能替你解除掉。﹂
　　﹁……﹂
　　﹁田班長。﹂排長電筒照到田班長，準備有所吩咐時，卻發現他右袖已被血液沁透：﹁田班長，你負傷啦！﹂
　　﹁沒什麼！﹂田班長咬緊牙根強忍：﹁祇是一點擦傷，不礙事的。﹂
　　﹁不行呀！你躺下，讓我替你裹傷。﹂排長掏出急救包，另指派：﹁陳文基、李子廉，請你倆儘快把這位同志送到連部，不要耽誤了他急救時間。﹂
　　﹁不！不行呀！那樣我：：我會死：：死蹺蹺的。﹂水鬼大聲叫嚷著。
　　﹁甭管他，即刻把他後送。﹂排長果斷叮嚀：﹁要快去快回啊！﹂
　　﹁是！﹂李、陳二人端槍靠腿齊聲回答。

　　翌日清晨，海面浮起多具水鬼屍體，全由團部運回處理。這天從早到晚，長官們紛紛來到哨所慰勉犒賞，捕獲水鬼新聞，很快便傳開了，島上軍民無不興高采烈。
　　項排長受到長官再三垂詢獎掖，更感責任重大，沒幾日，他親自擬妥訓練腹案向全排弟兄報告：
　　﹁各位同志，這次我們能殲敵於水際，並活捉水鬼一員，這充份表現了我全排團結合作，犧牲奮鬥精神的高度發揮。這個小仗，祇不過是我們牛刀小試，將後還有不少硬仗要打，所以我們絕不能以此自滿，今後我們如還想打勝仗，便應繼續加強體能和戰技訓練。在我想，這次捕捉水鬼，排上已領到不少獎金，除了加菜外，還可節省些錢購製運動器材，如單槓、木馬、籃球什麼的。記住，我們絕不能成天待在碉堡裏，否則，體能戰技定會退化。所以閒暇時可以到海邊去游游泳，陸上打打球，跳跳木馬，玩玩單雙桿；在戰技方面，我們要隨時加強射擊訓練，如劈刺、奪槍、奪刀、擒拿、手榴彈擲遠等。有了強健體魄，再加上精湛
戰技，遇到狀況，我們準是藝高人膽大，應付自如了，你們說，對不對？

　　﹁對！﹂全排弟兄應聲鏗鏘有力。
　　項排長可樂得笑咧了嘴，經過全排弟兄精心設計趕製，各班據點附近都安裝好了單槓、木馬，排哨後方還平了一個籃排兩用的克難球場，排長特地擬了份戰技體能訓練計劃，全排便這樣掀起了訓練高潮，弟兄們日復一日不斷磨練，個個都生龍活虎般靈敏碩健精神抖擻了。
　　不到一年，排裏還組成﹁五虎﹂籃球隊，對外比賽，竟然逐次打上去，直打到師級，還沒吃過敗仗呢！
　　師長在球場，親自見到﹁五虎﹂隊能以精椹球藝，勇奪冠軍，師長笑顏逐開進到球場向弟兄握手道賀：
　　﹁恭喜！恭喜！﹂師長頻向球員豎起大拇指。
　　散場前，師長還對全體官兵訓話：
　　﹁各位同志，一個球隊能連連闖關，這不是偶然或靠機運的，這完全要憑藉他們平時訓練與默契了。作戰也是如此。今天我很高興能看到這場球賽，各位知道五虎球隊是哪個單位組成？告訴大家，他們就是去年活捉水鬼的那個排。﹂瞬即球場響起一陣如雷的掌聲：﹁各位同志，我們要效法這個排團結奪鬥精神，將後在戰場上，才能為黨國立大功、效大勞。勝利絕不是憑空而來的，為了增強戰力，所以我們全師要加強體能和戰技訓練，現在我已決定，準備在不久，全師將舉辦五虎單位選拔，並頒發五虎排、連、營、團榮譽旗和獎金。我們以什麼作標標準？當然就是測驗射搫、手榴彈擲遠、單槓、木馬和游泳訓練等五項。希望各
位回去努力加強訓練，爭取優異成績，祝各位勝利成功，謝謝、謝謝。﹂

　　項排長自師長宣佈五虎單位選拔項目後，暫且把練球擱置下來，全神貫注五項戰拔訓練，開訓日，他特地向全排弟兄講話：
　　﹁各位同志，這次球賽我們能勇奪冠軍，證明天下無難事，全靠用心人。不久師部便要舉行五虎單位選拔，五虎原是本排榮譽標誌，我們誓必要將五虎榮譽排的旗奪到手，那時我們才不愧是名符其實的真正五虎排了。各位都知道我的年歲比你們長，相信我能，你們定比我更能，但願大家都能以此共勉。排上除了必要的勤務外，人人皆要參加訓練，這是命令，也是目前最神聖任務，深信大家都能順利達到五項訓練要求。現在我問問大家，有沒有奪得五虎榮譽旗的信心？﹂
　　﹁有！﹂全排弟兄斬釘切齒應聲。
　　項排長見到弟兄們士氣高昂，臉上也綻開了罕有的愉悅笑顏。
　　解散後，戰士們你一句，我一舌的議論紛紛：
　　﹁你們真有信心把握，奪到五虎榮譽旗？﹂
　　﹁看你們都像吊死鬼搽粉─死要臉。﹂
　　﹁你們有沒有數數看，全師有多少個排呀！就祇那一面榮譽旗，得來是談何容易啊！﹂

　　﹁你甭這樣替我們洩氣吧！﹂
　　﹁還要那般大姑娘爭嫁妝─不害臊。我勸你們，沒把握的事，最好是免開尊口。﹂
　　﹁不順著老Ｋ排長，他不給你來上兩個小時的精神講話才怪吶！﹂
　　﹁是呀！我們是天不怕，地不怕，僅怕老Ｋ排長疲勞轟炸，所以我們才不得不大聲應有啦！﹂
　　﹁你們可都成了多年的煙槍─老油子了。﹂
　　﹁如果你跟老Ｋ強辯，那會有這樣乾脆，訓上幾分鐘便解散啦！真是門都沒有。﹂
　　﹁什麼門都沒有呀！﹂田班長攏過來幽了大夥一默：﹁除非那個混球小子做了絕德事兒，才會生下不長肛門的娃兒。﹂
　　﹁哈哈哈……﹂逗得在場弟兄全樂了起來。
　　項排長何嘗還不是耽心五虎榮譽旗不易奪到，他也正是有這種怪脾氣，愈是難得到的東西，他越會戰戰兢兢去奮力爭取。他深信，祇要全排弟兄同心戮力，準可獲得最高榮譽，何況這五項競賽，並不是多大的難事，這些都是做革命軍人必須具備的起碼要求，把這五項練好後，定可增強全排殺敵本能，尤其在平時，他便注重這些戰技磨練。想到這，他對未來遠景充滿綺麗希望。
　　為了鼓舞士氣，項排長自掏腰包，拿出全月薪水給弟兄們打牙祭。全排弟兄為了不辜負排長期望，人人聚精會神，日復一日埋頭苦練戰技，個個都超越上級要求標準許多，誰都想躍躍欲試大顯身手。　
　　經過兩天的戰技測驗，全排同志均能順利並高水準過關，戰士們窺見排長笑呵呵，紛紛湊前向排長探聽底細：
　　﹁排長：我們成績很好吧！﹂
　　﹁還可以。﹂項排長笑瞇瞇地回話。
　　﹁能不能奪到五虎榮譽旗？﹂
　　﹁我們不要計較這些，祇要大家盡到了心力就行啦！戰技競賽，是在幫助大家快速進步，讓我們在平時更多流些汗，到戰時才會少流些血，你們說對嗎？﹂
　　﹁對！﹂戰士們回聲震耳。
　　﹁比賽雖是過去了，記住，我們絕不可把精神鬆懈下來。戰技訓練，就好比求學問般如逆水行舟，不進則退。所以我們還要天天來訓，時時來練。其實戰技並不僅是這五項，其他尚有如劈刺、奪槍、奪刀、摔角、柔道、擒拿、戰鬥射擊、夜戰訓練等，這些我們皆要利用機會反覆操練，到戰時，我們才能隨心所欲打敗敵人。幹軍人看起來是挺危險，但祇要把戰技練到手，我們便允有求生的本領。萬一不幸而戰死，軍人嘛，為了保國衛民，便應抱定犧牲奉獻，不成功便成仁的決心，這是我們軍人天職，也是我們軍人本色。﹂
　　戰士們聽到項排長這番話後，更領悟到了人生真諦，人人均以做個革命軍人為榮。

　　從今以後，全排弟兄在項排長計劃安排下，繼續加強其他戰技訓練，人人對項排長更為尊敬，做任何事也頗具信心，項排長對大家也份外信任，這個排的確已建立起了三信心，真是士氣如虹，氣壯山河了。
　　皇天終於不負苦心人，項排長卻很光榮的從師長手中接過來一面栩栩如生的五虎榮譽旗，全排弟兄無不雀躍欣喜若狂。項排長可笑逐顏開，對弟兄們頻頻讚道：
　　﹁各位同志，這崇高榮譽，是諸位努力辛勞得來的成果，在我是萬份衷心感激諸位。以前我常說，祇要是對的，我們便應儘管、放心、大膽去幹。今天事實更證明以往大家辛勤耕耘，已經有了豐碩收獲，我們要珍惜這份榮譽，並要保持這個成果，甚至更要發揚光大。這面五虎榮譽旗，就是我們排的精神標誌，從今天起，我們要把這面旗當作我們的排旗，我們要讓這面旗和精神，永永遠遠傳遞下去，讓這個排永遠站在時代尖端，個個都是不怕苦、不怕難、不怕死的革命鬥士。﹂
　　項排長兩眼向弟兄們掃視了一遍，見每人都聚精會神，聽得如癡如夢，接著便大聲問道：
　　﹁剛才我講的話聽懂了沒有？﹂
　　﹁聽懂了！﹂全排回聲震撼寰宇。
　　﹁我們要尊什麼旗為排旗？﹂
　　﹁五虎榮譽旗。﹂
　　﹁我們要站在時代哪兒？﹂
　　﹁尖端！﹂
　　﹁我們要有哪三不怕精神？﹂
　　﹁不怕苦、不怕難、不怕死！﹂
　　﹁我們要做什麼鬥士？﹂
　　﹁革命鬥士。﹂
　　戰士們個個回答是那般鏗鏘有力，深信祇要上級隨時賦予他們任何艱巨戰鬥重任，準會如期誓死達成。

　　　　四
　　養兵千日，用兵一時的光榮日子終於來臨了。師接奉突擊東山島嶼作戰命令，戰士們聞悉無不興高采烈、雀躍萬丈。
　　項排長在登陸艦上，向全排弟兄作任務提示：﹁各位同志，這次我們很榮幸，能跟慕名已久的海軍陸戰隊和傘兵勁旅併肩作戰，你們說光榮不光榮？﹂
　　﹁光榮！﹂戰士們全露出了笑容。
　　﹁我再報告你們一個好消息，這次突擊作戰，我們奉命擔任師的先鋒部隊。﹂項排長收斂了笑容，亮出端莊的面孔：﹁這正是我們報效國家機會來臨了，我們每人要抱定不怕死的革命精神來參戰，相信勝利正在向我們呼喚，成功正在對我

們招手。現在我要慎重問問諸位，有沒有打這次勝仗的勇氣？﹂
　　﹁有！﹂聲震海濤，
　　﹁有沒有打這次勝仗的決心？﹂排長聲音有些嘶啞。
　　﹁有！﹂音撼大地。
　　﹁很好！﹂項排長嘴角蕩漾出歡悅的笑容。
　　凌晨五時二十一分，ＬＶＴ在星光閃爍下，波濤洶湧中一輛輛魚貫泛水，排列成了一條海上長龍。。遠眺島上燈火通明，戰士們在兩棲車內磨拳搓掌，準備迎接突擊聖戰的來臨。
等待是多麼令人難捱，個個似如氣鍋上的螞蟻焦急。快攏岸，島上燈火突告熄滅，我海軍艦砲驟雨般，打戰士們頭頂﹁吱吱……﹂掠過，霎時﹁轟轟轟……﹂地落在敵陣上，繪成了一幅壯麗的火海圖，更振奮起了勇士們的高昂士氣。ＬＶＴ已推進到海灘，著陸板啟開，弟兄們生龍活虎般向兩翼展開。
　　敵陣槍聲﹁卜卜……﹂斷斷續續響起，正如年節燃放著潮濕的鞭炮。
　　陳文基打趣地道：﹁謝謝你們鳴爆迎接。﹂
　　﹁是呀！早知道你們會如此熱忱，我們便該捎個信兒通知你們，也好讓你們揀個大晴天曬曬鞭炮呀！免得這般像垂死掙扎的鴨子嗶啪嗶啪的。田班長特意鬆弛大夥兒的緊張心情。
　　﹁報告班長！﹂陳文基舉手：﹁讓我過去通報，請他們甭放啦！免得聽起來嘔心。﹂
　　﹁我跟你一塊兒去。﹂許僑僑不甘示弱：﹁是該去把沒燃完的鞭炮摘斷。﹂
　　﹁好吧！﹂田班長可拗不過陳、許的一唱一和：﹁你們可要小心點，別讓炮兒爆傷了手！﹂
　　﹁是！﹂陳、許二人齊聲回答。
　　排上自動步槍伸長了火吞，在舔喫敵人陣地，陳、許二人乘火網掩護，利用地形地物已接近敵人碉堡邊。
　　﹁許僑僑，你掩護，我去把鞭炮摘斷。﹂
　　﹁不！還是讓我去。﹂
　　﹁別耽誤時機，後面還有好戲要演啦！﹂
　　陳文基翻身直往射口邊躍進，衝到陣前，在地上拔了把長草，伸手便將機槍奪了過來，乘勢餵了兩枚手榴彈進去：﹁囉！給你們兩顆糖吃。﹂
　　﹁轟！轟！﹂掩體炸開了，敵人像驚弓鳥兒全往外飛散，陳文基端起奪過來機槍左右掃射，敵人可一個個倒躺在地上；許僑僑衝到敵前便喊話起來：
　　﹁各位鄉親弟兄們，放下武器就是同志。﹂
　　﹁卜卜……﹂敵人可不聽這套，反來一梭子回馬槍。
　　﹁嘿！嘿！沒見識，跟婊子談什麼交情？﹂
　　﹁真她娘的！﹂
　　﹁砰！砰！砰！！……﹂

項排長領著弟兄蜂擁而上，敵軍夾著尾巴往北逃竄。
　　﹁輕機槍，火力追擊！﹂項排長兩眼鼓瞪得偌大。
　　追擊中，在敵陣戰壕裏，擄俘敵軍十六名，排長可樂成了彌勒佛：﹁田班長，請你派員把俘虜送到連指揮所去。﹂
　　﹁是！﹂田班長也笑皺了臉。

　　　　五
　　師已奉命超越海軍陸戰隊健兒鞏固的灘頭陣地攻擊前進，當部隊在湖尾高地任務交接時，見陸戰隊王國林戰士，頭部血流如注，仍跪在地上撐扶著國旗，由此更證明海軍陸戰的勇士們渾身是膽。陸軍出身的李子廉見狀也不甘示弱湊近搭訕：
　　﹁同志，您辛苦了，國旗該讓我來撐啦！﹂
　　﹁不！我要把國旗永永遠遠插在這領土上，讓我們艷麗的旗幟，來犁開難胞們會心的微笑。﹂
　　﹁您頭上還在流血，該退下來裹傷再戰吧！﹂
　　﹁流這點血算得了什麼？我要把自己的熱血來灌溉這冰凍枯涸的祖國江山，讓大地復甦重溫春的喜訊。﹂
　　﹁您真了不起！﹂李子廉豎起大拇指。
　　﹁沒什麼！這不過祇是盡我一份心力罷了。﹂
　　﹁您要多為國珍重。﹂
　　﹁謝謝您的關懷，但願你們打個漂亮的勝仗歸來。﹂
　　﹁我們會盡全力拼戰。﹂
　　﹁再見！﹂王國林戰士淚眼晶瑩。
　　﹁再見！﹂李子廉也戀戀不捨揮手。
　　戰士們見到此豪壯情景，更振奮起了大夥兒殺敵勇氣。項排長也特選了枝長竹竿，頂端繫了面艷麗的大國旗，駱幹事自告奮勇雙手接過來撐扛，他健步如飛勇往邁進，戰士們在青天白日滿地紅國旗前導下，個個雄赳赳，氣昂昂，冒著槍林彈雨奮勇進攻。我軍在空軍掩護下，晌午已順利攻佔南山，遠眺敵軍可不斷由陳岱渡過八尺門，向東山增援過來，敵砲兵也逐次加入了戰鬥，對我軍進展多少是受到了些許阻礙。項排長祇好命令弟兄們加強工事，並要求三人編成一攻堅小組，準備利用夜暗向四一○高地攻擊，奪取東山島上的制高點。
　　夜幕低垂，陳文基、許僑僑、李子廉三寶志願編為第一攻堅小組，已潛行到敵人碉堡附近，許僑僑利用低處朝空透視，窺到敵人一組複哨，轉首跟李子廉耳語：
　　﹁你掩護，我跟陳文基過去把他們逮捕過來。﹂
　　﹁好！我掩護你們前進！﹂
　　陳、許二人動作敏捷，踩著貓步，迂迴攏近到了敵哨後方，一個箭步，便分

頭各擒牢了一名敵兵說：
　　﹁同志，不許吭聲，否則便沒命啦！﹂
　　﹁……﹂敵哨兵顫懍恐懼不敢動彈。
　　﹁你們指揮所在哪？﹂
　　﹁不知道！﹂
　　﹁你倆如不合作，準會老命不保！﹂
　　﹁我祇知道連部位置。﹂
　　﹁你們今晚口令？﹂
　　﹁囉！在我左上口袋裏。﹂
李子廉上前把敵哨槍機一一卸下，並搜出口令吩咐：﹁好！你倆領我們到連部去。﹂
　　﹁是！﹂敵兵輕聲應是。
在敵俘引導下，很順利繞道來到了敵人連部休憩所，警衛甚森嚴，敵哨見有人來，忙端槍裝填嘶喊：
　　﹁口令！﹂
　　﹁過年。﹂
　　﹁特別！﹂
　　﹁大鳴大放。﹂
敵哨不疑有異，精神隨即鬆弛，李子廉順勢便將槍奪下，敵哨驚怔大吼：﹁救命呀！﹂

　　當敵人隱密接近到我戰鬥前哨射程內，項排長便命令迫擊砲、重機槍火力狙擊，殊不知敵軍仍然是蜂擁而來，並接近到輕武器射程內，在項排長一聲號令下，全排火力齊放，祇見敵軍一個個被打得人仰馬翻，可是敵人還是一波復一波地湧了過來，繼又把來犯敵人一列列擊倒在地上，打得弟兄們的槍管通紅，手兒癱軟，敵人方暫停歇了前進，這時排已奉命撤回到主陣地繼續戰鬥。
　　排剛完成部署，敵軍卻尾追而來，此時我陣前火網密佈，把來犯敵軍殲滅堆積如山了。
。敵軍這樣戰法，簡直不把人的生命看重，人海怎敵得過火海啊？祇要我們彈藥充足，定可把來犯之敵人打成一遍血河。
　　戰鬥愈來愈激烈，趙禮謙連長也不幸頭部中彈成仁了。項排長獲悉鄉親摯友趙連長陣亡噩耗後，復仇的烈燄愈加焚心，他先命戰士們全線投彈，彈爆瞬間，他便端起衝鋒槍向來犯敵軍衝殺，弟兄們見排長奮不顧身，也隨即躍出戰壕跟敵搏鬥。駱幹事更勇猛飛躍衝到項排長的先頭，連連向敵軍投了好幾枚手榴彈過去。
　　經全線一衝，可把敵軍打得落花流水、潰不成軍了。但排上弟兄可也傷亡慘重，排長左臂也掛了彩，總算換來了一段時間的寧靜。

　　項排長攏近駱幹事身旁，見他身中數彈，搖搖欲墜，上前替他裹傷，駱幹事還忍痛吩咐：﹁項排長，趕快率弟兄們轉進到海灘上船，連上其他人員均已後撤了，這兒我來抵擋。﹂

　　槍聲瞬息，項排長判斷駱幹事定已為黨國殉職了。於是他便含淚領著戰士們，朝著駱幹事成仁方向默哀致敬。

　　回到駐地，各部隊馬不停蹄檢討戰果。項排長大公無私，極力推荐田班長、陳文基許僑僑、李子廉等到上級去參加戰鬥英雄遴選；同時還詳述駱幹事奮不顧身、壯烈殉國，足堪矜式事蹟，請政府優厚撫卹，並將其靈位安厝到國軍忠烈祠，俾供世人瞻仰。
　　連上也有意推舉項排長參加全師戰鬥英雄選拔，但他總是再三推辭：﹁我把一排活生生的弟兄帶出去，今兒回來已剩下無幾，怎還有心情去角逐英雄？如今我祇有閉門懺悔贖罪，謝謝諸位盛意。﹂

　　﹁對！﹂戰士們應聲震耳。
