Eggs found strapped to passengerWhen Customs officers searched a French national on his arrival at Sydney International Airport on a flight from Thailand yesterday (August 2), he was allegedly found to be hiding 23 exotic bird eggs in his vest. The man will appear in Sydney Central Local Court today charged with importing regulated live specimens without a permit and making a false statement to Customs officers. The maximum penalty for smuggling wildlife is a fine of $110,000, and/or 10 years' imprisonment. |
