一个黑人姑娘在歌唱

在那楼梯的边上，
有一个黑人姑娘，
她长得十分美丽，
一边走一边歌唱……

她心里有什么欢乐？
她唱的可是情歌？
她抱着一个婴儿，
唱的是催眠的歌。

这不是她的儿子，
也不是她的弟弟；
这是她的小主人，
她给人看管孩子；

一个是那样黑，
黑得象紫檀木；
一个是那样白，
白得象棉絮；

一个多么舒服，
却在不住地哭；
一个多么可怜，
却要唱欢乐的歌。

A BLACK GIRL IS SINGING

At the edge of the stairs
There is a black girl
Who looks very nice
Pacing and singing...

What is the glee inside her?
Is she singing a love song?
In her arms there is a baby;
She is singing a lullaby.

It is neither her son,
Nor her younger brother,
But her little master;
She is a babysitter.

One looks so black
Like dark rosewood;
Yet the other so white
Like cotton wool.

One is so comfortable
But cries constantly;
Yet the other so poor
But sings happily.

at the edge of the stair
stands a black girl
who looks very beautiful
walking and singing......

她心里有什么欢乐？
她唱的可是情歌？
她抱着一个婴儿，
唱的是催眠的歌。

is there any joy in her heart?
is she singing a love song?
she holds a baby in her arms
gently singing a lullaby

这不是她的儿子，
也不是她的弟弟；
这是她的小主人，
她给人看管孩子；

it is neither her son

but her little master
she is just a babysitter

一个是那样黑，
黑得象紫檀木；
一个是那样白，
白得象棉絮；

one is so black
like padauk wood
the other is so white
just like cottonwool

一个多么舒服，
却在不住地哭；
一个多么可怜，
却要唱欢乐的歌。

one is so comfortable
but cries without rest
the other is so pitiful
but has to sing happily
