一
天寶剛卸下書包，好似鬼迷神差，步上講臺，順手拿起粉筆在黑板上塗鴉，逗得全室同學都放下功課，木納瞅睨著他，不知是中了什麼邪？膽敢這般搗渾早讀秩序。約莫分來鐘，他以粗寬的線條，勾畫描繪出了一幀熟稔的人像，於是全班同學不約而同，驚訝豁然地道出了會心的懸疑：
﹁哪不是很像導師？﹂
﹁可不是。﹂
﹁棒、棒、棒，畫得棒極了。﹂
﹁簡直把導師畫活了。﹂
﹁你們的導師又沒死？﹂想不到同學們正在談論著導師，他卻扳起一副老Ｋ臉闖進到教室。
霎時全室鴉雀無聲，就好似耗子遇見貓兒那般的畏懼。金老師攢蹙起眉頭，氣沖沖地訓斥：
﹁我看你們沒有一時不是在詛咒，巴望著老師早些死掉才好，若沒有老師管束著你們，便可任性去翻天覆地啦！告訴你們，老師身體生得硬朗，死不了，還一心一意想把你們一個個琢磨好後，再送出校門。否則，導師死也不會瞑目的。﹂金老師一雙鷹似的銳眼盯睖著天寶吆喚：
﹁洪天寶，你跟我過來！﹂
洪天寶可嚇得手足癱軟，渾身顫抖，忙上前來認錯：
﹁報告老師，我錯了。﹂
﹁你錯了什麼？沒出息的東西。甭這樣窩囊自己，這畫不是畫得挺好嗎？﹂沒誰能猜得透，金老師到底是在捧他，還是在貶他？
逗得洪天寶啼笑皆非，扮著一副苦臉。
﹁天寶呀！祇可惜你讀錯了科別。﹂金老師嘆息的語氣彷彿滲雜些微挖苦：﹁當然老師不會埋沒你的才華，再過幾天就是校慶，希望你能替我們班上出份壁報，也好讓全校師生刮目相看，驚奇我們班裡，有你這麼一位活寶天才畫家呀！﹂
洪天寶可被導師罩得瞠目結舌，呆如木雞了。

洪天寶接下了這份差事，頗費一番苦思，終於想出了一套，完全以金老師為中心的嶄新主題，繪成了一幀幀栩栩如生的往事。
壁報貼出沒多久，便轟動了整個校園，同學們可一窩蜂似的湧來欣賞，這張畫中有畫，唯妙唯肖的大幅壁報。誰都知道，金老師是全校管教最嚴的一位老師。殊知，就有這般大膽的學生，竟敢拿他作題材、當笑料。不僅把金老師原原本本的畫出來，還冠冕堂皇的張貼在文化走廊上。洪天寶深怕觀眾看不懂，還特意佇立在壁報前跟同學們一五一十不厭其煩地說明畫中含義。
尤其鄰班一群文靜的女同學，也不甘緘默前來觀賞，嘴裡還滔滔問個不歇，洪天寶對這些小妞，更是入木三分地一一解說。
﹁這是我們新生訓練編班情形。記得在編班的當時，有幾位知己好友，想編到鄰座，好有個守望相助，可被導師察覺到，狠狠地給訓了頓：﹃你們甭想再三五成群的搞小團體，鬧小組織，那樣是與法不合的，如被我逮到，絕不饒你們，輕則要記大過，嚴重的開除再送外島管訓。』真想不到，老師一開口講話，就是這樣兇巴巴的，簡直像尊活閻王。﹂
﹁幸好我們沒有分發編到你們班上。﹂麗珠滿臉餘悸。
﹁可不是。﹂秀珍也隨聲強和。
﹁這準又是金老師在訓你們。﹂玲玲俏皮的搭訕。
﹁還用問？每週班會，他總是愛莫名奇妙的訓我們一頓。記得頭一次的精神講話，便跟我們來個下馬威：﹃你們能編到我這個班可以說是你們幸運；也可說是不幸，到時久而久之你們準會體會出來，用不著我講得太明白透澈，同學們可要記牢一句話，真金不怕火煉。我對你們嚴，也是秉著教不嚴，師之惰古訓。要知道鐵不煉、不成鋼。玉不琢、不成器。為師嚴，祇不過是希望你們畢業後能成金、成鋼、成器………。﹂
﹁噘噘，他委實把我們估量得太高了嘛，如有出息，我們才不來讀這所學校吶！﹂惠敏搭喳兒自貶身價。
﹁他卻認為天底下人人都是可造之才。﹂天寶挪指到另一幅圖：﹁這是導師上體育課正在點我們的名，他掌控學生，是全校最嚴格的一位老師。……」
﹁真是點他個大頭鬼。﹂麗珠截斷了天寶的話題，兩頰氣極得冒紅絲：﹁有一次我穿運動服，祇晚到了一會兒，他便記我曠課，你們說冤不冤。﹂
﹁你這樣，至少還有缺失落在他手上，倒還說得過去。﹂秀珍也忿忿不平地掀起他的舊賑：﹁有一次，我參加校外演講比賽，訓導處准了我的公假，他可在他那本閻王簿上記了我節曠課，這樣才真的冤枉啦！﹂
﹁瞭解他個性就好了。﹂天寶仍為導師辯護：﹁祇要按時上他的課，包準導師不會找你們忿子的。﹂
﹁其實他上課並沒有一套。﹂秀珍咬牙切齒，恨不得說得他體無完膚：﹁除

了點名要求苛嚴外，他那像是在跟我們上課，每次上課，他總是先對我們不問青紅皂白訓上一頓，然後再講些我們早就知道的運動規則，等他口講乾了，再發十來個球，要我們自己去跑、去練，他老先生可溜到辦公室納涼享福去了，直等到下課前幾分鐘，他才來檢查成果，看誰流的汗最多，就表示誰最賣力，體育成績也就較高。﹂
﹁天哪！我們女孩子生定就比男生較為文靜，運動起來，總沒像男同學那般容易出汗。﹂惠敏也吐出滿懷怨氣：「每次運動過後，我的汗流得最少，所以我的體育成績從沒超過七十分大關，想要申請獎學金，當然祇好眼巴巴的去看別人領囉。﹂
﹁檢查前，你為啥不到水龍頭下去淋淋？﹂麗珠責怪她傻。
﹁怎敢？聽說有一次，我們前期老大哥，正按你的辦法想瞞過他，卻被老師逮到，可打他體育成績不及格，那位學長就這樣留級讀不下而轉學了。」
﹁其實體育課，祇要勤動，多流汗，才能促體魄強健。我們導師最討厭虛偽造假，騙人欺己的學生，那位學長打他體育成績不及格，是罪有應得。﹂天寶真不愧是他的得意門生，猛在他導師臉上貼金：﹁我們導師對任何事情都是公事公辦，如我們學校的體育衛生經費，校長絕不敢挪移到其他地方去開支；否則，我們導師便要向有關當局檢舉告個沒完，遇著他這樣鐵面無私，六親不認的人，誰還敢去惹火上身呢？﹂
﹁我們學校的體衛器材、藥品，的確是相當充裕。﹂麗珠可道出了公道話。
﹁這幅畫是什麼意思？﹂玲玲手指右下角的那幅畫問，臉上佈滿疑團。
﹁我們全班在樹下集體午讀呀！﹂天寶聳聳肩，可得意洋洋笑咧了嘴。
﹁你們真會如此用功？難道還想考大學不成？﹂麗珠有些詑異。
﹁可不是嗎？﹂天寶揶揄地說：﹁其實是因為我們班上秩序比賽，扛了把紅椅子回來，導師罰我們樹下午讀一個月。真的想升學，誰還會來讀我們這所不入流的學校？﹂
﹁有沒有同學開溜過？﹂玲玲插問。
﹁誰敢？﹂
﹁你呀！﹂女同學不約而同齊指著天寶。
﹁除非你們借個膽子給我。﹂
﹁難道他坐在旁邊監視你們不成。﹂惠敏真不相信男同學會如此聽話、乖巧。
﹁雖然他沒跟在旁邊監視，但他的寢室就在我們午讀樹下的斜對面，萬一被他察覺到，那我們可要吃不了，兜著走，所以大家祇好認命了。﹂
逗得在場的女同學們，嗤嗤笑得露出了白皚皚亮麗的大門牙。
天寶特意指著清掃廁所那幅畫，感慨萬千地道：﹁想起那時導師的苛刻要求，可把我們整慘、折騰死了。﹂
﹁怎麼啦？﹂秀珍訝然地問。
﹁記得在高二上的時候，我被同學們推選當上了衛生股長，想不到整潔比賽

頒獎時，班上領了面大黑旗回來，導師氣得跟訓導主任報告：﹃全學期廁所的清掃，由我們班上包了。﹄所以那學期，我成天在跟廁所打交道，深怕廁所有些微不乾淨而被登記，到時又不知導師要加重我們幾倍的處罰了。幸好這學期評分先生，每次檢查後均打了我們最高的痛情分，總算是渡過了難關，我的操行也升到了優等，同學們均榮獲記功兩次以上的獎勵。﹂
﹁想不到他還有人性嘛！﹂麗珠有些詫異：﹁總算沒把你們功勞抹煞掉。﹂
﹁怎會？﹂天寶直替導師辯護：﹁其實祇要摸清楚他的個性，是滿好相處的。他並不像大家都般誇張、宣染，傳說他是鐵石心腸，冷酷無情的怪物。」
﹁你還在衛護他。﹂玲玲甚為不解：﹁難道他整得你還不夠慘啦！﹂
﹁你可不能這樣嫉惡他。﹂天寶指著另幅畫：﹁這是導師當車急救學生的寫照，在高二下時，我們班上林金英被車撞成重傷，送醫繳不起保證金，幸好導師把他心愛的機車送進當舖，才救了金英同學一條性命。」
﹁這祇不過是應急而已。﹂麗珠並不以為然。
﹁你們並不知內情，金英家境相當貧困，肇事人又溜了。我們全班要發起捐募，導師認為太勞師動眾而被阻止。林金英出院時，全部醫藥費均是導師在校邀了個會，才付繳清的吶。﹂
﹁真是偉大。﹂秀珍豎起大拇指。
﹁你們導師有沒有成家？﹂惠敏插問。
﹁沒有，導師時常對我們說：﹃一人飽，則全家飽。我是一月薪水一月了，絕不把錢帶進棺材。同學們如有困難，儘管先跟我說聲，到時我可樽節使用。﹄導師就是這樣樂於助人的一位好老師。﹂
﹁他有沒有接濟其他同學？﹂
﹁當然有囉！我們班上同學祇要有病痛，他總是百兒八十的送到你手裡。如班上李朝進同學，父母過世後，學雜費無著落，還不是導師替他繳清後，他才沒遭到輟學的厄運。﹂
﹁聽你這樣說來，金老師可真是閻王面孔，菩薩心腸囉！﹂惠敏深有此感。
﹁的確是這樣。﹂天寶頻頻點頭。
麗珠指另幅畫問：﹁為何每次考試，你們班上都是金老師監考呢？﹂
﹁這是導師要求監考自己班，而其他班級都是由教務處輪派監考老師。﹂天寶嚥了下口水，若有所思：﹁我們剛進校門，心想讀職校，考試過關，準不會有問題。真想不到，第一次的段考，便由導師監考，進到教室，首先要求將書包集中教室前後，再檢查手心、大腿、棹面、抽屜。棹面幾乎都刻了鋼板，導師一氣之下，命同學們用小刀、石頭、快速把棹面書寫文字、記號刮磨乾淨，方發試卷。考試下來，成績奇差是不在話下，全校八位留級生，都出在我們班上，從此，同學們再也不敢對功課馬虎了。﹂
﹁如此下來，你們可真學到了不少東西﹂
﹁說良心話，導師不逼我們，我們都抱定混三年。﹂天寶兩眼凝視導師畫像

心懷感激。

下課後，金老師回到教員休息室，還沒坐穩，胡老師便遞了枝煙給他，金老師可婉謝道：﹁對不起，我已戒了。﹂
﹁戒煙啦！活了這把年紀，還戒啥子煙啊！﹂
﹁說不抽，就是不抽。﹂金老師不願多費口舌。
﹁是不是想找個老伴？﹂
﹁哼！我還會去揹哪種包袱？﹂
﹁為啥戒煙？﹂
﹁想換臺新電視。﹂
﹁怪不得這樣折磨自己。﹂胡老師話帶諧謔，有點兒誆人：﹁你身兼福利委員會主席，難道萬巴塊錢還週轉不動？﹂
﹁你把我看成什麼人？﹂金老師有些惱火：﹁祇有兔崽子才會那般沒出息。﹂
不出半年，金老師已換了臺彩色電視，他屋子裡的冰箱、登山裝備……等，都是他省吃儉用，而購俱全的。
金老師秉性生來便好抱不平，鐵面無私，而有正義感。
記得有次學校九月一日至三日註冊，四號適逢星期天，出納組貼了則公告：﹁因註冊關係，薪水及食物貸金，延至九月五日發放。﹂
金老師見後，首先找出納組長據理力爭，但他們仍以分身乏術為藉口。於是金老師便悻悻然闖進校長室理論：
﹁報告校長，是不是你規定出納組，薪水及食物貸金改在五號發放，難道一至四日，要我們餓肚不成？﹂
﹁沒有呀！﹂校長立即持起聽筒找出納組：﹁是誰指示延後發薪？……怎可擅自作主？……不管怎樣，今天下班前務必要把薪水，貸金發放出去。﹂
從今以後，出納組再也不敢延遲發薪了。
還有次，教職員單身宿舍抽水馬桶壞了，金老師簽報了多次，總務處再三推辭，下學期宿舍便要拆除，為了節省公帑，修廁所暫且兔議。金老師彙集一疊簽呈報告，進到校長室質詢：
﹁報告校長，你請來的總務主任和那群事務人員，是光吃不拉？﹂
問得校長愕然丈二金剛摸不到頭緒：﹁金老師，我不瞭解你的來意，請坐下慢慢談。﹂
金老師滔滔不絕：﹁我們單身宿舍，廁所壞了個來月，簽呈報告了好多次，總務處老是相應不理，不知是否校長暗示他們這樣推、拖、拉的。如果再這樣拖延不修，就請總務主任、校長到我們單身宿舍去待上三天幾宿，看你們會不會憋出毛病來。﹂

﹁金老師，這些簽呈從未送過來，他們真是糊塗。﹂校長輕拍金老師的臂膀安撫道：﹁你儘管放心，馬上修、馬上修。﹂
動員月會上，又該金老師大檢特討的時候了：
﹁校長、各位主任、各位先生，我是單位裡一份子，是有權開口，讓我們學校進步。首先檢討，學校行政效率奇差無比，追根究底，不外乎是校長身兼數職所致，今兒我要請問校長，你難道有三頭六臂，今天台北，明日高雄，學校大大小小的事都要等你來處理。還有你聘的幾位主任，在錢的開支方面，你有沒有授權給他們代你負一個子兒的責任。各位主任大爺都在場，如果我說錯了，你們可站起來反駁，當場撕爛我的嘴，割斷我的舌。還有，一學期當中，你到學校上了幾天班？主持了幾次週會？……﹂
批得校長臉紅脖子粗，吱唔得說不出話了。幾位主任，分坐在校長兩旁，好似一尊尊木偶啞口無言。
正因為金老師這次毫不保留坦率的檢討，校長不得不把在外兼職一一辭掉，而專心一意的來處理校務，整飭校風，於是校譽隨即蒸蒸日上，這才是學校之幸，師生們之福了。

金老師每天總要到保健室去報到一兩趟，他去並不是為了看病，既是有些小毛病，他從不願吃藥打針；也不是來這尋樂、偷閒，而是想在保健室察覺學生們真正的病痛，好來悉心關懷照顧他們。如果不是校內有關人員來診斷，他也會毫不客氣的把他揈出校門；就有一次，來了位老太太進到保健室就診，當她取了大包小包的藥要離去時，卻被金老師擋駕，並加予阻止：
﹁這位老太太不是我們學校教職員，怎可在我們醫務所看病拿藥？﹂
老太太被他這樣驀然一盤問可楞住了~BY3;，~I;稍後面帶愧恧地自我介紹~BY2;：﹁我是校長的母親。﹂
﹁不行！不行！﹂金老師疾顏厲色，擺出一副悍潑的兇像。
﹁為什麼？﹂老夫人活到這把年紀，從沒遇到如此粗魯不可理喻的人過。真是秀才遇到了兵，有理講不清。
﹁就是校長祖奶奶也不行！﹂金老師鐵面無私，毫不給老夫人留情面。
﹁不行也要好好講嘛！為何要這般兇巴巴的對待我老人家？﹂老夫人可也按耐不住性子。
﹁我是天生這般個性，要我輕言細語跟你講，辦不到。告訴你，保健室藥品，全是我們學生繳錢買來的，除了學校教職員工暨學生可在這兒診斷外，其他人員均不可以在診所看病取藥。﹂
﹁金先生，下次不來就是了。﹂王大夫見他們倆鬧得騎虎難下，便起身從中排解。
﹁為什麼下次不可以來？﹂老夫人也倔強得不願退讓：﹁我天天要來看病，

看你把我怎麼樣？﹂
﹁你休想！﹂金老師火星四冒，一個箭步躥到老夫人身旁，便把藥包奪下了。
﹁你是學校幹啥的？這樣野蠻！﹂老夫人氣得渾身直打哆嗦。
﹁我呀！是學校體衛組金老師，兼福利委員會主席。全校師生都背著我喚！粗線條。﹂金老師氣極，恨不得掏出所有頭銜，理直氣壯的遏阻老夫人的一意孤行：﹁你下次若要再來我們醫務所看病，那我們就騎騾看唱本─走著瞧！﹂
﹁真是不折不扣，道道地地的粗線條。﹂老夫人也絲毫不肯讓步：﹁粗線條，今天我倒不信這個邪：蜜斯楊請去找我兒子來。﹂
﹁就是叫你老子、天王爺來，我還是要堅持我的立場。﹂激得金老師愈加不甘服輸。幸好來了好些個同事，才把他倆勸解開。
經這麼一鬧，學校紛傳，校長要解金老師的聘，他卻毫不在意。為了打發漫長的假日，金老師祇好獨自去登山解悶，免得閒來沒事，對看不慣的事兒又要惹事生非的。
有一天，金老師登山返校，卸下背包，便取出生銹的開山砍刀，在校長室門前的大石上磨將起來，此時適逢校長來上班，驚得校長魂不符體從側門溜了。藍老師見狀忙上前擋駕問道：
﹁金老師，一大早，在這磨刀幹啥？﹂
﹁你不知道？﹂金老師兩眼一橫，咬牙切齒斬釘截鐵地回話：﹁瞎子磨刀─快啦！﹂
﹁快什麼？﹂
﹁快砸飯碗啦！﹂
﹁怎會？像你這般公正、爽直、負責、認真、熱心能幹是有口皆碑呀！﹂
﹁有啥用？﹂金老師揮刀一揚，一枝樹枝子便﹁嘎﹂的一聲斷落在地上了。
﹁甭這樣傻想，等會兒，我去問問校長。﹂
經藍老師到校長公館去打聽，方知是校長的幾位狗頭軍師，跟他建議過多次，要請金老師走路，但校長始終認為金老師是位負責、正直的好老師，如把他解聘，世上哪還有真理、公道呢？校長知情後，當晚便請金老師在他家裡吃了頓便飯，並由藍老師作陪，這場誤會，總算冰釋平靜下來了。

學校福利，在金老師籌劃、管理下，可說是辦到了涓滴歸公，尤其他特別注重教職員生的直接福利，並要求福利社所有物品要比市面價低，品質還要好，每樣物品，務必要把價目標出來。課餘閒暇下班時，他總是獨個兒到外面去訪價對照，如有不合價廉物美等情事，他便會立即指正福利社老闆儘快改善。
舉凡學生大宗必需用品，如書籍、簿本、服裝……等，全由福利委員會直接掌管，價錢與批發價碼一樣便宜，學生們能直接享受到這份福利，家長們都是讚不絕口。

一年一度的福利委員改選又來臨了，有些人還在設法拉票，唯有身為福利委員會主席金老師，會議上卻鄭重聲明：﹁謝謝諸位歷年都選我當福利委員，我已連任十一年委實是幹膩了，希望換換人，調調味口，與公與私都是有益處。拜托各位這次不要選我，千萬拜托、拜托。﹂金老師右掌伸出大小指蓋著左掌誇張比劃道：﹁誰再選我，誰就是烏龜王八養的。﹂
霎時，全場一陣譁笑，紛紛議論，金老師不願出馬，該選誰比較洽當。
想不到，開票結果，金老師仍然是以高票當選。這時金老師頗為尷尬，高拱起雙手陪著苦笑致歉道謝：﹁謝謝各位還是這樣熱衷的支持我，剛才我說的話有些那個，祇當我金某人放了個庇，還得請各位先生、小姐鑒諒，謝謝、謝謝……。﹂
金老師語畢，全大廳響起如雷掌聲，大家便在這遍沉鬱的歡笑中結束了選舉大會。
會後，幾位單身教師，相邀到金老師寢室去道賀，見他房內牆壁上掛滿不少登山器材、及貼了不少座佑銘：
─清清白白而來，將清清白白而去。
─憑著良心做事，靠著本事吃飯。
─公事公辦，私事私了。
─砸爛地頭蛇的頭，打斷軟骨蟲的腰。
─做事不馬虎，為人不黃牛。
─傻要傻到頭，粗要粗到底。
─要做頂天立地的支柱，不做沒有骨氣的藤蔓。
─看得到的山必登，觸得到的水必涉。
─開創此一世紀，培植下一後代。
─……………。
進到屋內，每人都被這些琳琅滿目警世座佑銘給吸引住了，幾乎每人都忘了來意，還是藍老師首先打破沉寂：
﹁恭喜你又當選主席啦！﹂
﹁我有什麼辦法。﹂金老師雙手一攤。
﹁能者多勞嘛！﹂胡老師接腔。
﹁能個鳥！﹂金老師忙遞香煙給在座老師們：﹁祇有傻瓜才幹這檔子吃力不討好的事兒。﹂
﹁你不是戒煙了嗎？﹂胡老師頗感意外。
﹁是戒了，這包煙是專門供客人吸的。﹂
﹁謝謝，謝謝。﹂老師們接過煙紛向金老師道謝。
﹁老金，你爬過哪些山？﹂林老師改換話題。
﹁台灣大部份高山我都爬過了。﹂
﹁真了不起。﹂林老師豎起大拇指。
﹁沒什麼，這不過祇是我的興趣，每年寒暑假，我總要帶好些青年人去登山

玩水。尤其在春節假期，大家都回家團聚，誰願意留在寂靜的宿舍，所以我總是獨個兒去登山而與大自然為伍，來打發時間。」
﹁你真是稱得上是智者樂水，仁者樂山了。﹂胡老師可讚不絕口：﹁祇有你才真正享受到智者樂、仁者壽的福祉了。﹂
﹁那裏，那裏。﹂金老師理了下稀疏的頭髮，樂得兩眼瞇成一條細縫：﹁祇要大家不要再叫我粗線條，我就心滿意足了。﹂
﹁哪怎會吶？哈、哈、哈………。﹂

班上同學，一個個在金導師嚴格要求，諄諄教誨下，畢業離校沒多久，不是考上了大學院校，就是進到了專科深造，再不就是憑優異成績進到了理想的工作單位。同學們深思，如果沒有當年導師的嚴格管束，也不致有今天的成果。
春假期間，洪天寶發起了一次同窗會，特別邀請導師來共襄盛舉。當導師步進會場，全體同學在門前列隊報以熱烈掌聲，歡迎導師的光臨。金老師見同學們如此懂事達禮，可樂得流露出了他極少見到的綺麗笑靨。同學們看到導師這般的喜悅，每人均感染上了無限的快慰。大家都後悔，為何在校求學時期要那樣淘氣？害得導師收斂了他那抹開懷可掬的笑顏。
會場佈置得相當別緻，廳堂四週，用粗線條勾畫了好幾幅導師的生活素描，上首懸掛了個斗大的壽字，條棹上還擺了個特製的大蛋糕，上面插了密密層層的臘燭。
﹁今天是誰過生日？﹂導師驚奇訝然地問。
﹁導師您呀！﹂王麗雯忙說明。
﹁你們怎會知道今天是我的生日？﹂
﹁同學錄告訴我們的呀！﹂黃小娟也俏皮地搭訕。
﹁我活了這把年紀，的確是很少能記到自己的生日。﹂金老師輕彈了好幾下前額：﹁今天是好多歲，連我自己都弄不清了。﹂
