一
深秋，晴空如洗，陽光暄麗，是個充滿喜悅美景良辰的好日子。
佈置得彩華絢麗美輪美奐的禮堂洋溢著一遍：﹁恭喜！恭喜！﹂祝賀聲。
人逢喜事精神爽，新郎─李老師樂得雖然是眼角泛出了魚尾紋，臉頰上可綻開了朵朵歡樂的笑靨。一向沈默寡言的新娘─黃麗玲今兒打扮得如花似玉，跟隨新郎在賀客群中眉開眼笑地敬酒。
今天李黃婚慶的喜宴與眾不同的，不知是為了節約，還是為了什麼？男女雙方合併請客。男方客人雖然是佔了八成左右，居然收禮、總務、招待等幾乎都是女方包辦，怪不得賀客們要議論紛紛：
﹁今天不知是李老師娶媳婦，還是女方辦入贅。﹂
﹁別胡說！黃家又不是沒兒子。囉！蹲在那撿汽水瓶蓋的那小子，不就是他們家的命根子嗎？﹂
﹁酒席為啥全由黃家包辦？﹂
﹁唉！清官難斷家務事，常言道，女婿也是半子呀！這檔子事我們甭去操心啦！還是儘管喝酒吃菜吧！﹂
﹁說來說去還不是黃家老太婆厲害。﹂林大媽心裏是藏不牢話，雖然佳肴美酒擺在面前寧願少吃幾口，仍然還是要先吐為快。
﹁怎個厲害法？﹂
﹁他家這樁親事，上門提親真也不在少數，祇要一談論到婚娶，報出來的苛刻條件，準會嚇得來者知難而退了。﹂
﹁女方開出什麼條件？﹂
﹁第一，結婚後要住在娘家。﹂
﹁像李老師隻身在臺孤苦伶仃的是再好也不過了，如能住到岳家，既可重溫慈親天倫之樂，又可讓老太婆時刻關照掌上明珠呀！﹂
﹁關照，ㄚ頭不被她折騰死才怪？﹂
﹁哪有誰家父母不疼愛自己子女？﹂
﹁老頭兒倒挺厚道，可是滴點芝麻小事也作不了主，闔家大小全任憑由老太婆擺佈。記得麗玲在讀書的時候，還要起大早為家裏煮妥飯，洗好衣服，才準上學，真虧她能忍耐捱過這些年。如今上班替老太婆賺錢，回到家還是要忙這做那的，總之是把她當牛馬般來使喚。﹂
﹁真是天殺的娘，她委實是太過份跋扈了。﹂

﹁能讓她這樣平平穩穩渡日子倒也罷了，三天兩天，祇要她一看不順眼，便要抓打得這ㄚ頭身上紅一塊紫一團的。﹂
﹁相信她出嫁後，老太婆虐待狂準會收斂些。﹂
﹁唔！狗還能改得了吃屎，包準又是外甥打燈籠─照舊︵舅︶。﹂
﹁是呀！江山易改，本性難移。﹂
﹁這ㄚ頭委實是太命苦了。﹂
﹁老太婆開出的第二個條件？﹂
﹁結婚前，要男方在她家前院蓋棟兩層洋樓。﹂
﹁給誰住？﹂
﹁老太婆說得是滿中聽，結婚嘛！總該有個新房。﹂
﹁這倒是應該的，自己蓋屋自己住，祇要男方有錢，房子誰也搬不走的。﹂
﹁第三要求，舉凡ㄚ頭的服裝、首飾全由男方添置，還要買枚好幾克拉的鑽戒。說什麼免得嫁過去後愁這煩那的﹂
﹁老太婆也真會替女兒設想。還有沒有其他條件？﹂
﹁有囉！她最後要求小倆口子今後賺的錢，要悉數按時全繳給她掌管，直等他的寶貝兒子長大成親後，才可讓他們倆搬出黃家另立門戶。﹂
﹁她委實是太苛求了，怪不得麗玲直等到如今才遇上暴發戶似的李老師百依百順的結成了這門婚事；否則，麗玲真要成老處女了。﹂
﹁聽說老太婆還讀過什麼洋學堂吶！虧她如今還在醫院任護理長，真不知她南丁格爾的精神被什麼惡犬吞噬掉了。﹂
「幸好李老師願意這樣委屈求全，不然的話，麗玲還要苦一輩子啊！﹂
﹁李老師就是居於痛情心，在大陸家帶出了一大批金條，才能娶到這美嬌的麗玲呀！﹂
麗玲這妞兒，長得挺俏麗，粉紅的面頰嵌上兩個深深的酒靨，時而露出平整白皙的牙兒，遇著熟人便綻開出嫵媚的微笑，再配上柳葉眉下的一對秋水似的大眼，真是羨煞不少人啊！唯一遺憾的，不知是那個絕德鬼妒忌她的艷麗而在她的額角用刀劃了一道深深的疤痕，幸好她有一頭烏溜溜的秀髮給掩蓋住了，如不仔細察看，誰也不易見到那道疤痕。她賢淑、淡雅、溫文的氣質，更是賀客們閒聊的話題：
﹁新娘的身段標緻得好似藝術家塑造過的那般均勻和諧，尤其她那冰清玉潔的膚色加穿上繡上鳳凰的祺袍，更如天仙般的嬝娜多姿。﹂
﹁哪可不是？還有她的一顰一笑配上一雙鼓圓烏亮水汪晶瑩閃爍的眼睛，更會令人神迷魂離。﹂
﹁女大真是十八變，一幌小妞愈大反而楚楚動人，你看她在席間好似一匹翩翩花叢間的銀蝶，逗得賀客個個目不轉睛地盯睨著她。﹂
﹁真可謂是秀色可餐也。﹂
﹁哈哈……﹂大夥兒都被惹笑了。

﹁李老師真有福氣。﹂
﹁怪不得他肯付這樣高的貸價，孤注一擲。﹂
﹁噓！新娘、新郎來敬酒啦！﹂
當新娘攏近賀客身旁，更能看清晰她的確是艷麗怡然，她那嬌嫩紅一彈即破的臉蛋兒，似如熟透馨香的蘋果，真可稱得上是位脫俗不凡的美人胚子。
敬完酒回座，新娘那棹傳來一陣騷動，原來新娘子手上戴的鑽戒失竊了。新娘驚駭惶恐得花容失色而淚顏洗面了。新郎再三在身旁安撫道：
﹁丟了甭心急，仔細想想看有沒有取下過？﹂
﹁……﹂麗玲點頭沒吭聲。
﹁放在哪兒？﹂
﹁我的手提包裏。﹂
﹁我跟你查察看。﹂
﹁剛剛查看過沒有找到呀！﹂
﹁這樣貴重戒指，怎可隨便取下來？﹂黃老先生責怪女兒的不是。
﹁還不是媽要我取下的。﹂
﹁你這個死ㄚ頭，還要怪罪我，真是好心沒好報。﹂黃老太太虎視眈眈睨睖著麗玲：﹁我也是認為這麼珍貴的鑽戒，不要在更衣時給碰損了，誰知你今天被什麼鬼神迷住了，心兒讓狗吃了般，取下便忘了戴上。﹂
麗玲在今天大喜的日子，的確是傾心瀝膽的快樂，忘了一切煩惱、憂慮。竟想不到在更衣後卻忘了戴上鑽戒，而惹來了這樁惱人的風波，弄得賀客們都掃興矇上了不白之冤難能離去。在場誰都有嫌疑，誰也不願擔上這個罪名，都希望能弄個水落石出，於是大夥兒七嘴八舌地提出高見：
﹁我看大家都不要離開，請諸位原地落座。﹂
﹁趕快搖電話請刑警來偵辦。﹂
﹁保持現場，尤其新娘子的皮包誰也不要去觸摸。﹂
﹁跑堂先生，服務小姐也請委屈在這待會兒。﹂
黃老先生再三向賀官道歉：﹁真對不起，弄得大家還留在這兒久候，真是家門不幸。﹂
﹁還要勞師動眾請刑警來幹啥？他們來也查不出什麼名堂。既然有人存心要偷，相信東西早便拿出去了，偷兒早就腳底板抹豬油─開溜啦！請刑警來查，等於是脫了褲子放屁─多此一舉，要那樣弄得大家起雞皮疙瘩心情不舒坦幹啥，光輝，你說對不對？﹂黃老太太轉眼向李老師示意，想讓他儘快疏開這尷尬場面。
﹁鑽戒丟了就算啦！﹂李老師想緩和這場僵局，更不希望在大喜日子來觸賀客們的楣頭：﹁謝謝各位光臨，有慢待各位的，還請諸位長官親友原諒，謝謝！謝謝。﹂
有好些賀客並不願便此離開，都希望把偷兒逮出來：
﹁光輝：不成，這樣貴重鑽戒，一定要當場把它找出來。﹂

﹁對！查不出來，我們跳到黃河也洗滌不清白呀！﹂
﹁對！是應立即查個水落石出。﹂
﹁還是請各位不要離開。﹂金泉在梯口擋駕：﹁我已向刑警報案了，他們馬上即可到場。﹂
﹁也好，大家便騎驢看唱本─等著瞧瞧找出那位樑上君子吧！﹂
﹁逮出來，非要撕爛他的臉皮，剁斷他的髒手。﹂
大批刑警已趕到了現場，有的詢問案情，有的在手提包上採取指紋，還有不少男女警員對賀客們一個個搜身，當刑警一切工作辦妥後，並未把鑽戒查到，李老師祇好請來賓離席。
李老師忙牽著新娘站到梯口，苦掛著臉兒，鞠躬、作揖連向賀客們道歉。

三十餘年來，麗玲的笑顏祇是曇花一現，如今在她的臉龐上再也尋覓不到一絲笑痕。李老師總算想得開，丟了鑽戒不但沒責怪麗玲，還再三安慰道：
﹁麗玲：錢財是身外之物，生不帶來，死不能帶去。還是想開些，相信祇要我們勤奮節儉，不出幾年，準又能買回一枚鑽戒。」
今天黃老太太也破天荒的，不但沒有揪打麗玲，連一句重話也沒說。也許如今她是嫁出的女兒，潑出去的水吧？還從旁大發慈心地勸導女兒道：
﹁孩子呀！戒指已經丟了，就甭再愁眉苦臉啦！今兒是你大喜的日子，是應該高高興興，也好讓大家沾點喜氣呀！孩子你還是打緊吃點東西。古人說得好，人是鐵、飯是鋼。留得青山在，還愁沒柴燒？光輝說得對，祇要今後你們小倆口子勤奮節儉，什麼金銀財寶都能買回來啦！乖女兒，還是聽娘話，吃些吧！﹂
這席關心話，在麗玲聽來還是自有記憶而來的頭一回呢！她極盼望娘能像往常一樣狠狠地揪打她一頓，反比這樣鬱悶不樂的好過些，到時她還可藉機抱頭痛哭一場，舒坦下憋得幾乎快要爆炸的憂蹙呀！她內心頗感愧疚難安做錯了這件無法挽回的過失，她愈想愈難過得愴然簌簌淚下了。光輝也不知如何是好，他祇巴望著刑警能即刻幫他找回那枚鑽戒，也好讓他愛妻紓解這團悶結，來跟他歡渡這花好月圓之夜。
刑警先生終於在當天把採下指紋，鑑定核驗出來了。
﹁警官先生，查出結果沒有？﹂光輝不待刑警述說案情，他便搶先發問。
﹁皮包上祇有兩個人的指紋。﹂
﹁誰的？﹂
﹁一個是你內人的，另外一個嘛！﹂刑警把眼光擲向到黃老太太身上來探察她的反應。
﹁另一個是誰的？﹂黃老先生心急地蹦出了問話。
﹁是你太座的。﹂
﹁什麼？是我的？難道我們自家人，還會在自己床舖上撿棉被不成？真是豈

有此理。像
你們這樣查案子，誰都會查，還用得勞師動眾？要是知道祇能查出這樣的結果，還請你們來幹啥？﹂黃老太太理直氣壯的可光火了。
﹁還有沒有第三者的指紋？﹂光輝目光轉向警員帶著懇求的口吻：﹁請再查驗看。﹂
﹁絕對沒第三者的指紋。﹂刑警直搖頭。
﹁這樣你們認定我們鑽戒沒有丟囉！我早便跟你們說過，不要請什麼鬼刑警來查這件案子，好吧！看他們還能查出個什麼鬼名堂來？﹂黃老太太可氣得嘀咕個沒完。
﹁老太太，我們是依據科學查證獲得的結果啊！你這樣亂開黃腔是妨礙公務的囉！﹂
﹁妨礙公務？你們甭亂扣帽子，你們要跟我眼睛放亮些，這是我的家，你們跟我滾、滾，鬼才稀罕你們這樣來查案子。﹂黃老太太可氣得臉紅脖子粗。
﹁老夫人，甭這樣生氣啊！我們是來替你們服務的，希望我們合作偵破這件案子，老實跟你講，手提包拉鍊拉柄上僅留下你的指紋，這證明，最後開皮包的就是你。﹂
﹁聽你們這般胡說硬指鑽戒是我拿了囉！真是今兒碰到了鬼啦！當時你們為什麼不把鑽戒搜出來？﹂黃老太太氣得臉色鐵青。
﹁當時我們就是疏忽了這點，除了你家自己人外，其他人員都搜查過了。﹂
﹁現在你們還可搜呀！﹂
﹁今天我們是想要來試試看。﹂
﹁你搜嘛！你搜嘛！﹂黃老太太氣呼呼站起來逼向警員身旁。
﹁林小姐，請帶老太太和新娘子到新房去檢查。﹂一位年歲較長的警官吩咐女警員：﹁李老師，隨同我到老太太房裏去查查看。﹂
﹁什麼！搜我身上還不夠，還要去查我房間，告訴你，我房裏金銀財寶多的是，短少了，你可賠不起。﹂
老太太在女警員三推四拉之下，終於進到了新娘房裏接受搜查。李先生也跟隨男警員到岳母房裏翻箱搗櫃的搜尋。黃老先生可氣得在堂屋裏發愣，麗玲見母親氣得死去活來更是驚悸得魂不附體了。
老太太經搜查沒查到什麼，她更是滔滔不絕罵個不休，衝進房裏上前便想捶打刑警，刑警順勢便擒住了她，從此黃老太太再也不吭聲了。
良久，刑警、李光輝、黃老太太才先後步出房門。刑警頗為失望地道：
﹁李先生，你再去查看下你夫人的皮包看看。﹂
﹁皮包我已察看了幾百遍，哪會有？﹂麗玲滿自信。
光輝匆忙從臥室取出皮包，當眾啟開，幡然一枚嶙峋閃爍的鑽戒出現在皮包內，笑顏迎向新娘子：
﹁麗玲，鑽戒不在這兒？﹂

﹁真的呀！我怎找不到？﹂麗玲可樂了。
﹁可把警官先生們忙壞了，真太麻煩你們了。﹂黃老先生忙起身向刑警人員賠笑臉。
﹁找到了就好了，這麼貴重東西，誰見了都會動心的，以後要藏牢點，掉了可別再找我們啦！你家李先生便是一位了不起的刑警啊！哈哈……再見！再見！﹂刑警向黃老太太連掃了幾眼，便離開了李家大門。
老太太氣得臉上一陣紅、一陣白，連吭一聲也沒吭，真是修養到家了。

自鑽戒找到後，老太太受了滿肚子的窩囊氣，成天吁聲嘆氣，坐立不安，給這個家可矇上了一層陰影瘴氣，但卻帶來了不少寧靜。小倆口可把一房子的樂趣鎖在屋裏，出房門，誰也不敢露出一絲笑容。
為了討好老夫人，更為了實踐諾言，發薪後，小倆口子都悉數把錢繳給她，老太婆總是收牛肉賒賬似的按餉袋一毛不可短少的點收。幾月來，小倆口子別說看場電影沒有錢，就是每天午餐錢還得二十、三十的伸手向她老人家討，真虧他倆能忍得下去。
悶了，小倆口子乾脆把門兒扣上，天南地北的無所不談而來舒暢鬱悶的胸懷。
﹁妳娘真厲害，逼我好似回到了兒童時代，每天出門還得向她老人家要錢。﹂
﹁不許你這樣說，這是你心甘情願的呀！﹂
﹁看妳身上這麼多傷痕，是怎樣弄成的？﹂
﹁還不是娘老人家。﹂
﹁她真狠，怎揪打成這樣？難道要把妳整死不成。﹂
﹁唉！誰叫我是她的女兒？﹂
﹁不恨她？﹂
﹁怎會？娘打我是為我好，她老人家還不是愛之深、責之切，否則我才不會像如今這般溫溫馴馴沒滴點火氣。﹂
﹁如不是她嚴管狠揪，說不定妳已變成野ㄚ頭了。﹂
﹁難道你希望娶位野姑娘？﹂
﹁怎會呢？天底下我祇看中你這俏ㄚ頭；否則，我怎會費盡心力，百依百順隨著岳母大人意願把妳娶到手吶！﹂
﹁說真格的，這般日子你過得慣吧？﹂
﹁過不慣也得過呀！如今我們已經是夫妻了，便應同甘共苦，生死與共了，妳說是不是？﹂
﹁讓你也跟我一塊兒受苦，真是太委屈你了。﹂說著、說著麗玲便依偎在光輝懷裏不自主的啜起淚來了。
麗玲自結婚後，再也沒嘗到皮肉之苦，她深深感到這樣生活已使她心滿意足了。至少她已獲得了丈夫的關懷、安撫、體恤，這也是她久久日夜夢寐以求的日

子終於來臨了，於是她頗為珍惜這溫馨的時刻，而緊緊擁抱住舔食這甜蜜的果實，她啊！已沉迷在愛的漩渦中了。
好景不長，老太婆的狐狸尾巴又露出來了，並在雞蛋裏面挑骨頭：
﹁這道菜為啥炒得這樣鹹，是不是怕老娘吃多了，看妳準又是活得不耐煩，存心跟我過不去……﹂
﹁娘：光輝在這，就請您少講兩句。﹂麗玲苦苦哀求打斷了她的嘮叨。
﹁臭婊子養的，妳竟敢教訓老娘來了……﹂
﹁媽，您別罵自己嗎？又生這大的氣，何苦呢？﹂
﹁今天妳又惹火了老娘，我非要收拾你不可。﹂於是老太婆一個箭步便攏身捋牢了麗玲的頭髮，拳腳交加像雨點般落在她的頭上、身上。
黃老先生委實看不過意，上前勸道：
﹁女兒都出嫁了，就甭再這樣打啦！﹂
﹁好哇！連你這糟老頭也幫腔呀！你們來，你們全衝著來欺侮老娘好了。今兒我豁著這條老命跟你們拚了。﹂老太婆低頭狠狠咬緊麗玲大腿不鬆口。
麗玲可痛得直冒冷汗驚叫：﹁救命呀！救命呀！﹂
光輝上前拉住岳母的手，跪在地上替愛妻求饒：
﹁媽！看在女婿份上，請放過麗玲吧！﹂
總算女婿面子大，老太婆終於鬆了口，可是麗玲大腿上的鮮血直滴不止，光輝順手撕了條被單替妻子裹傷，瞬即帶她到就近外科來醫治。
左鄰右舍聞悉，紛買這買那的趕到醫院來看麗玲的傷勢，誰見了，都會對她同情得落淚。來到的媽媽們紛紛數落她娘的不是：
﹁老太婆簡直像瘋子似的，麗玲這孩子挺乖巧的，還有事沒事的找她打一頓；如今出嫁了，還把她咬成這種樣子。﹂
﹁世界上怎會有這樣很毒的娘？﹂
﹁女兒好像不是她親生似的。﹂
﹁本來嘛！麗玲就不是她生的！﹂林大媽脫口說出了保守已三十來年的秘密。
﹁怪不得她不把麗玲當人待。﹂
麗玲豁然大悟，淚顏洗面把心中悶話和盤托出：
﹁怪不得她心腸這樣狠毒，三十多年來我跟她做牛做馬，甚至割下我的肉給她吃，她還會嫌我的肉是酸的，再怎樣順著她，仍然不是打便是罵，好像我就是她的出氣筒。林媽媽，我是怎樣進到黃家來的？﹂
﹁是她抱來的。﹂
﹁我的親生父母呢？﹂
﹁都在大陸，沒出來。﹂林太太很失悔把這則秘密洩露出來，要是被那吃人的老太婆知道了，可要鬧得天翻地覆啦！﹁麗玲，妳可不要跟那老太婆提起這檔子事啊！不然妳又要受皮肉之苦；而我更是吃不了兜著走啊！﹂

﹁不會的，我可不會傻成那種程度。林媽媽，我生父姓什麼？﹂
﹁別再問啦！反正你父母都沒出來，問也沒用。對不起，我家還有好多衣服沒洗吶！再見！再見！﹂林太太知事不妙，扭身便打退堂鼓。
麗玲聽了這席話後，喜憂交集，喜的是，她曾幻想不是這兇狠老太婆生的美夢兌現了，憂的是，生她的父母將打何處去尋覓？
出院李光輝掏出一枚結婚戒指抵當醫藥費時，大夫早已知道那位老太婆的為人，並同情他們的遭遇而拒收了，同時還慫恿他們倆：
﹁這樣已構成傷害罪，你們可以告她呀！﹂
﹁唉！」麗玲嘆了口氣：﹁雖然我不是她生的，但養育之恩，我總不能忘呀！﹂
﹁你們可搬出來住？﹂
﹁是呀！我早便有這個打算。﹂光輝得知愛妻不是黃老太太親生女兒後，才敢把埋藏在心中的真心話吐露出來。
﹁搬走？﹂麗玲訝然地反問：﹁我們在前院蓋的那棟房子呢？﹂
﹁祇好送給他們倆老人家了。錢財是身外之物，祇要我們活得高興、過得愉快，什麼都可以拋棄。﹂李光輝頗想得開。
﹁我們搬到學校附近去住，她也會找上門來的呀！﹂
﹁反正十來天便放暑假了，到時換個環境，我們搬到遠遠的地方去住，讓她再怎麼也找不到我們。﹂
﹁這才是明智之舉。﹂大夫豎起大拇指。
﹁謝謝大夫，等我手頭方便些，再來重謝您，大夫，再見！﹂
﹁再見！﹂大夫也揚起了手：﹁祝你倆幸福。﹂
﹁謝謝！﹂小倆口不約而同聲道謝。
回到家，他們倆便關進到自己的小天地裏，來共同編織起綺麗的美夢。

小倆口，總算小心翼翼渡過了這漫長的十來天，同事們熱心跟他倆籌妥了一筆盤纏，校長也替他在異地覓到了一份教師工作，祇要人到那兒，生活準無問題。
臨走，麗玲還戀戀不捨地道：
﹁祇帶這兩口提箱走呀！﹂
﹁難道還要把房子搬走不成。﹂
﹁我們走後，爸爸可要被她折磨死呀！﹂麗玲孝心復萌，雙眉緊蹙，淚水涓涓往下流淌。
﹁等我們安定下來，再把他老人家接到我們身邊來住就得啦！﹂光輝掏出手帕替愛妻拭淚。
﹁小弟找不到我，他會哭壞的。﹂
﹁隔些時日，他便會淡忘的。﹂

﹁媽會不會虐待他？﹂
﹁怎會！小弟是她的命根子，她不會對他怎樣。同時小弟親生父母就在附近，諒她也不敢打罵小弟。﹂
凌晨離開家，連連換乘了好幾趟車子，直捱到傍晚才趕到了新任教的學校，校長和藹可親的來到會客室迎接：
﹁你倆的遭遇，陳校長來信己詳細提到。現在請老王帶你們倆先在單身宿舍委屈幾天，等鄭老師離職搬走後，再遷到那兒去住，錢不方便，可先借資。﹂
﹁謝謝校長。﹂小倆口鞠躬道謝。
單身宿舍雖然小點，但在他倆的內心卻感到是份外的寬敞、自由、舒適。打這天起，他倆才真正嘗到了幸福、快樂、安逸的生活了。
心地善良的人自有天助，前些日子，他倆散步到街上，遇見一老翁攜了一疊獎券在那叫賣，他倆居於同情憐憫心，便特地買了幾張，開獎見報，居然還中了個頭獎，於是他倆意外的可嘗到了中獎的喜悅。
﹁麗玲，我們買傢具的錢可有著落了。﹂
﹁哪不可是？但我們飲水還得思源呀！﹂
﹁是不是去謝那位賣獎券給我們的老先生？﹂
﹁當然是要分些錢給他老人家，也可讓他分享我們一份喜悅。﹂
兌獎後，他倆找遍整個城市，再也尋不到那位老先生，他倆惆悵地拖著沉重的步履回到了天堂似的家。
