Detailed in a recent AQIS import alert, Overseas Exporters of new machinery are required to provide a declaration from the supplier stating that the machinery is new and not field tested or factory trialed. This declaration may be provided electronically on an invoice and does not need to be provided on a separate manufacturer's declaration signed by the manufacturer.
Statements from Importers will no longer be accepted.
The definition on machinery is very broad and at this point covers all mechanical devices and parts there for. Not just machinery of an agricultural nature. We recommend that importers get their suppliers to make suitable declarations on all future invoices. Not having these could result in delays processing AQIS clearance and additional costs may be incurred.
There has been some confusion as to the definition of ‘Field tested or factory trialed’. This includes any instances where soil, raw animal or plant material has been introduced or has come into contact with the machine, for example, grain-handling machinery. This definition does not cover machinery that has only been driven on factory floors.
Please contact us if you need assistance with appropriate declaration wordings.
