There is a star hanging
In the south, in the southern sky
Shining alone in pleasant rays

Bright is this star
Astonishing and worth praising
Eternal and forever new

How bright this star is
Whose rays come from the southern sky
Shining in all directions

It is shining over the green Southern field
Over the blue Southern sea
Over the simple Southern people

It is even shining over every corner of the world
Whose rays are soft, warm and pleasant
Brightening every place, even in the dark night

It removes the fear from the people’s heart
Comforting everybody’s soul
Who wear smiles on their faces even in their dreams
