失去的岁月

不像丢失的包袱
可以到失物招领处找得回来，
失去的岁月
甚至不知丢失在什么地方——
有的是零零星星地消失的，
有的丢失了十年二十年，
有的丢失在喧闹的城市，
有的丢失在遥远的荒原，
有的是人潮汹涌的车站，
有的是冷冷清清的小油灯下面；
丢失了的不像是纸片，可以拣起来
倒更像一碗水投到地面
被晒干了，看不到一点影子；
时间是流动的液体——
用筛子、用网，都打捞不起；
时间不可能变成固体，
要成了化石就好了，
即使几万年也能在岩层里找见。
时间也像是气体，
像急驰的列车头上冒出的烟！
失去了的岁月好像一个朋友，
断掉了联系，经受了一些苦难，
忽然得到了消息；说他
早已离开了人间

unlike a lost cloth-wrapper
you can get back at the Lost and Found
the lost years
even no one knows where it is lost --
in dribs and drabs
for ten or twenty years
in a noisy city
on a remote wasteland
at a crowded station
by a desolate oil lamp...

unlike a scrap of paper you can pick up, either
the lost years
but more like a bowl of water
thrown on the ground, dried by the sun
and then nothing left

time is liquid
you can't fish it with a sieve or a net
time can't be solid --
if it was a fossil, it would be great
for even ages later you can still find it out
between the rock layers
time is gaseous
like the smoke snorted out
from a fast running train

the lost years
like a long lost friend
suffering some pains
and unexpectedly, there news says:
he has passed away
